Missions

Tom and Terry Myers are serving in Bulgaria, a country still struggling to find its way in a free market economy.  Tom, along with the Baptist Union of Bulgaria, and the local Baptist churches are developing ways to help families by creating long-term solutions to the problems of unemployment, while ministering to the families' immediate needs.
Terry is involved in teaching English to a group of teenage orphans who attend an after-school program near the orphanage where they live. She is also involved in developing markets for handicrafts made by the women of the Baptist churches.

Dan and Estela Schweissing serve in the Bahamas. Dan serves the Mission Baptist Consortium of Churches. His work continues International Ministriesʼ long-standing commitment to prepare national leaders to more effectively serve their local churches and communities. Estela serves in the area of general ministry with the seven Haitian congregations of the 13-member Mission Baptist Consortium of churches in Nassau, Bahamas. Due to impoverished conditions and political instability in Haiti, more than 50,000 Haitian immigrants now reside in the Bahamas - most are undocumented. Like many other immigrant communities throughout the world, Haitians in the Bahamas face severe discrimination and often do menial labor for substandard wages. In the midst of such injustice, Estela hopes that her own experience as a Haitian in the Dominican Republic will help her to identify with the people and bolster the work and testimony of Haitian Baptist believers in the Bahamas.
